State Bar’s August 2026 Letter Updates the February 2025 Investigation

By Bar Exam Doctor · Source event / applicable period: August 5, 2026

The published update

On August 5, the State Bar announced a letter to the California Supreme Court about its independent internal investigation of the February 2025 examination. The release says the investigation had been paused during the state audit and that the Board concluded no issues warranted further investigation by an independent investigator after considering the auditor’s report.

Attribute the conclusion

That is the Board’s stated decision, not a claim that no applicant experienced problems. The scope and status of an internal investigation should also be distinguished from the outcome of separate litigation, the state audit, and decisions about examination policy. Those processes answer different questions.

How to follow the record

Our suggestion is to read the linked letter with the announcement and keep its date attached when sharing it. Avoid treating an older post about an investigation being launched as a current description of its status. Equally, do not turn this update into a prediction about a particular result or a statement that every disputed issue has been resolved. Applicants preparing for a later examination should obtain their operating instructions from the current administration’s page. This article records a dated institutional update rather than presenting an opinion about individual claims.
