A deadline worth acting on
The State Bar’s July 2026 unsuccessful-applicant bulletin says applicants may save or print their essay and performance-test answers from the Applicant Portal. It says those answer files will be removed on November 27, 2026. The bulletin is the source for this administration-specific deadline.
Build a useful review folder
Our suggestion is to save the result letter and available written answers in a private folder, using filenames that identify the administration and question. Keep an untouched original before adding annotations. A backup can be useful if you later change computers or work with someone on your preparation. Check each saved file opens; a filename in a download list does not by itself confirm a readable copy.
Turn preservation into preparation
Once the files are safe, review a small number of answers carefully. Mark where the answer identified an issue, stated a rule, used particular facts, or reached a conclusion without explanation. Compare patterns across answers rather than drawing a broad conclusion from one difficult question. Keep score reports and answers private, and ask how to share them before sending them to a provider. This deadline concerns access to existing written work, not an extension of any exam-application deadline. Follow the bulletin and your portal instructions if they are updated.
