What is published for February
The State Bar schedules the February 2027 examination for February 23–24, in person. Its overview identifies the MBE for multiple-choice testing and Examplify for typed written responses. It also describes five essays and one performance test in the written sessions. Applicants with accommodations may have different schedules.
Keep the formats straight
The most useful preparation plan matches the exam actually ahead. Headlines about California’s future NextGen transition do not replace these February instructions. Our suggestion is to create separate checklists for substantive study, timed written practice, multiple-choice review, and technical preparation. Finishing one list does not complete the others.
Practice the whole assignment
For written work, review whether you can read, plan, draft, and finish within the session you are practicing. For multiple-choice work, keep an explanation of the rule and the facts that changed your choice. Leave time to review mistakes before adding more questions. This article is an administration-specific update rather than a full rulebook. Use the official February page, your Admittance Ticket, and any personal instructions for details such as arrival times, permitted items, venue, and accommodations. Recheck them before travel and again before the exam.
