The published laptop steps
The State Bar’s laptop page says ExamSoft instructions begin January 26, 2027, for approved applicants after issuance of an Admittance Ticket. It gives February 19 as the deadline to complete the mandatory mock exam and upload its answer file. The page warns that failure to upload the file means an applicant cannot use a laptop and must handwrite responses.
Treat completion as more than installation
Our suggestion is to make a checklist with separate boxes for installing software, registering the device, downloading required files, completing the mock, and confirming the required upload. Save any confirmation and note where to obtain technical help. Do not assume last administration’s installation completes the current process.
Leave time for a second attempt
Schedule the setup early enough to investigate a problem before the deadline. Test the actual laptop and charger you plan to bring, following the official requirements. Keep your study timetable realistic during that week rather than treating setup as a task to squeeze into the final evening. This is a reminder of the published dates, not an alternative registration channel. If instructions change, the official laptop page and ExamSoft correspondence for your application control.
